Who are we?
We are an inclusive, nonpartisan grassroots movement committed to upholding democratic values, the rule of law, and human rights in Türkiye. We empower communities, amplify silenced voices, and build collective strength through peaceful, community-centered action.
Our Core Values
-
Secularism: We believe in the separation of religion and state. We uphold a government and legal system that treats all citizens equally, regardless of their religious beliefs—protecting both freedom of religion and freedom from religion. We support a state that is neutral toward all faiths and beliefs, where every person can practice, or choose not to practice, religion freely. An impartial state is the bedrock of equal rights, equal citizenship, and true freedom of conscience.
-
Separation of Powers: We believe in a democratic system where power is divided among independent branches of government to prevent authoritarianism and ensure accountability. We demand freedom of speech and true checks and balances. A government of, by, and for the people must be grounded in the rule of law and institutional integrity.
-
Peace: We work toward a Türkiye free from political violence, oppression, and social polarization. We support dialogue, restorative justice, and the non-violent resolution of conflicts and advocate for peaceful relations with all peoples in our region so that every community can live in security and mutual respect.
-
Inclusivity: We welcome all who share our mission, regardless of identity or background. We actively remove barriers to participation and build solidarity across Türkiye's diverse communities. We are committed to centering those most affected by injustice and ensuring their voices shape our movement.
-
Nonpartisanship: We remain independent of political parties to stay focused on our mission. We hold every actor, including ourselves, accountable to democratic principles rather than partisan interest.
-
Community-centered approach: We are rooted in local and diaspora communities - a diverse, supportive community of political activists working collectively for democratic change.
-
Flexibility: We are centered on core democratic values. We strategize to meet people where they are, build the widest possible coalition, and resist any slide into rigid group identity or dogma.
We Reject
We reject dogma, authoritarianism, polarization, and all acts of discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability and religious beliefs.
